Every Rowan Tree has a Story

This is my blog to spread the word about some of the great books that I read throughout the year. Since becoming disabled with Psoriatic Arthritis, I was a very active nurse and a police officer before that career. Now I am a mommy which I enjoy and I feel the rest of my time with lots and lots of books. So, hopefully, you'll fall in love with some of these books as I have as I read them.
For starters, I love a lot of classic books. My favorite ones are Gone With the Wind, Wuthering Heights, Huckleberry Finn, and To Kill A Mocking bird.

Some modern authors that I have fallen in love with lately are Jenn Stark, D.D. Chance, Antara Mann, Maya Daniels, Angie Fox, Kat Ross,Kater Cheek, Janice Tremayne, and Theophilus Monroe. As well as being great authors, they are fascinating people.

Let's start off this blog with a book that I just finished. It was Go, Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. Here we get to see Jean Louise all grown up and dealing with a lot of issues with racism that has been the buzzword of 2020. I can't tell you the innumerable underlines and pages that I marked that just touched my heart in this book. This book spoke for people on both sides of this issue and really did great justice to the discussion. Here is the link at Goodreads.com.

Girl In Trouble by Stacy Claflin

This was a good and easy to read book if not a little predictable at times. The ending has a bit of a surprise twist, but the ending also left me a little puzzled about the motivations of one of the characters. Some elements leave you thinking also as to what is the likelihood of that happening again, but outside of those elements, it was a pretty good read.

The Hunter's Curse by D. D. Chance

This is the second book in the series of Monster's Academy. D. D. Chance takes you into the paranormal world of Boston along with a few love interests along the way. D. D. Chance's second installment of the Monster Academy Series sizzles as much as the first book. It takes a new angle and develops the characters more fully, giving a more in-depth insight into what makes up Nina Cross' world and loves. This book is full of action, heat, and just plain good old gotta love to read it vibes.

The Necromancer's Bride by Kat Ross

Out of all of the books of this series, this one was my absolute favorite. I could read about Anne, Gabriel, and their group all day long. The writing was superb, the characters so robust, and this was one of the best stories and well-written books I have read in awhile. This is a book you must read. Kat Ross is one of my absolute favorite authors. Her characters are always robust and her stories are so down-to-earth while being unique and interesting. You cannot go wrong reading any of her books. With just one book you'll be hooked. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/46260218-the-necromancer-s-bride?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=YuyN1IIdzv&rank=2

The Midnight Cafe by Laurell K. Hamilton

This book is a collection of three books by Laurell Hamilton: The Killing Dance, Bloody Bones, and The Lunatic Cafe. I was introduced to Laurell Hamilton's books by a saleswoman at a local bookstore and I instantly fell in love with them. Hamilton has taken the age-old tale of vampires and werewolves along with a whole mix of other supernatural elements and made them into a new and refreshing storyline. The characters are well-developed in these books and you'll love all of them. I highly recommend anything written by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Southern Ghost Hunter's Series by Angie Fox
These books I simply adore. Angie Fox has several books including the series The Accidental Demon Slayer series and you can't go wrong with any of them. If you like a good clean story mixed with paranormal and a sweet romance in between, then these are the books for you. The Southern Ghost Hunter's Series though is my favorite. You can't help but love all the Southern charm plus Verity, Ellis, and Frankie the German the Ghost. Now I can't spoil this for you, but these are one of my favorite book series. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42725384-southern-ghost-hunter-mysteries?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=Csfy8BeERU&rank=2

The Vampire's Dayrunner by Kater Cheek

As you read above, Kater Cheek is one of my favorite authors and these book series are why she is my fav. In the center of all these books is a witch who is a Dayrunner for vampires meaning she does what needs to be done for them during the daylight hours for which they cannot complete on their own. This is book 3 of the series, but you'll love all of them as you see you get all the yummy goodness of Kit who questions herself like any other woman on this earth and who thinks she isn't perfect. Yet she is doing things with magic, being a strong woman, and going after what she wants in life. While she is thinking she is flawed, the reader is thinking she is pretty perfect and wouldn't mind being her. Then add in the unique storylines behind her character and you have a recipe for a book series that stays indelibly in your brain and makes you long to read more about her. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53440654-vampire-s-dayrunner

Wyrmrider Ascending by
Theophilus Monroe

Theophilus Monroe, as I stated above, is one of my favorite authors. I've also had the luxury of speaking with him via email and he is a fascinating person also. This dynamic persona carries through into the books that he writes. He is a master storyteller and never ceases to entertain me. This book is the first in a series. It is an adventurous and engrossing story that you'll have to read because I'll give no spoilers here. (LOL!) Seriously though, it's a good book! So go get it and enjoy!

Southern Bred and Dead by Angie Fox.
As you have heard me say before, this book series by Angie Fox is one of my favorites. Southern Bred and Dead is her latest installment and it was so sweet and endearing. I loved learning more about Frankie the German (gangster) and meeting more new ghosts. This series is absolutely fantastic.

The Hunter's Snare by DD Chance
is an enchanting book, the third in a series.
The Hunter's Snare is an entertaining and informative read that takes down a path to discover another's character's past as well as chip away piece by piece into the mysteries of the main character. I love that this book series is an offshoot of the Twyst Academy books which was an exciting series all on its own and its brilliance adds to this series as well. You can't help but love the characters and the excellent storyline, writing, and imagination of DD Chance that shines throughout this book, the series, and every other book that she has written.

The Limping Murderer Series, The One with Blue Eyes by Seryna Asola
This is an intriguing book. It is a mix of mystery with a dash of Japanese lore, a splash of a psychic, covered with a ghost story on top. The story just keeps you fascinated page after page.

Ashes to Ashes by Sierra Storm
This was a cute story with a paranormal twist of ghosts as friends that can be nice and can go horribly wrong. I found it an enjoyable book to read and it was entertaining.

Journey Down by M. J. Padgett
Journey Down is a very action-filled book with brilliantly written characters in a dystopian future earth. This was a very engaging read and one of many of M.J. Padgett's awesome books.
